Essential Lavender: Mother Nature’s Gift for Working Mothers

Arguably the most useful flower in the garden, lavender stands-out as the go-to all-purpose essential oil, because it simultaneously cleanses, refreshes, disinfects, and acts as a stimulant in your body’s limbic and endocrine systems.  Remedy a bad hair day and relieve even the worst case of the blues with one good all-over lavender shampoo and body wash.  Then, to keep the blues away and turn your frown upside down, enhance the wonder-plant’s benefits with lavender-rich body lotion or massage oil, because it relaxes and promotes healing in sore, tired muscles, promoting healthy circulation as it nourishes and rejuvenates your skin.  Finally, encouraging vitality and stamina, fill your diffuser with essential lavender and power through your to-do list as if each task came easily and effortlessly.

If you persist in your skepticism, do the research from two or three different perspectives, subjecting essential lavender to rigorous scrutiny of the highest order: First, examine the data on essential oils’ benefits for physiological complaints and psychological disorders.  You inevitably will discover lavender appears on and frequently leads the lists of effective natural extracts.  Unpretentious pink-purple lavender has demonstrated its efficacy in treatment of everything from acne to xenophobia.    Then, examine recipes for potent and pleasing essential oil mixes.  Here, too, lavender appears on every list, because it mixes well with florals, arboreals, herbs, fruits, and just about anything else in the forest or garden.  Still skeptical, continue your search among most common perfume, soap, lotion, and shampoo ingredients: of course, lavender leads the list, because women almost universally describe it as “refreshing, feminine, and romantic.”  Just for good measure, try to imagine a potpourri or sachet that does not include lavender—plausible, maybe, but impossible in real life.  Finally, assuage the last little vestige of skepticism with a quick review of most popular fragrances—here, too, lavender leads the league.

Essential Lavender: Distinctly and Decidedly Feminine

Lavender does not just smell feminine; nature also has adapted the miracle plant to relief of women’s unique health concerns.  The emotional associations and most frequent descriptions of essential lavender derive naturally from its bio-chemistry and healing properties: lavender relieves women’s most frequent health problems.  For example, most women suffer urinary tract infections at least once a year.  A natural complement to cranberry juice as an effective remedy for or defense against urinary problems and infections, lavender interacts with women’s endocrine systems to restore natural balance among androgens and estrogens while it reduces urinary inflammation and promotes healthy production and elimination of urine.  Most peri-menopausal women complain about irregularity and gastric distress.  Comparable with fiber and yogurt, lavender contributes to regularity and digestive health, because it promotes production of gastric fluids and stimulates peristalsis.

Most “mature” women complain about the physical and psychological complications of attempting to do it all, have it all, and be it all—commonly known as “superwoman syndrome.”  As they struggle to capture the elusive equilibrium among work, family, and self, the majority of women experience tension headaches, persistent stress-related muscles aches, and chronic exhaustion.  Essential Lavender relieves all three.  More importantly, however, most working women suffer chronic sleep deprivation, sleeping too little, failing to recuperate and dream productively.  In its early stages, sleep deprivation mimics the effects of intoxication; protracted sleep deprivation, however, triggers disorientation, hallucination, and seizure.  Especially in combination with melatonin tablets, aroma theraputic essential lavender contributes to recuperative sleep and healthy REM-cycles, which foster healthy dreams.

If you choose essential lavender as your everyday fragrance, you not only smell delectable and delicious; you also increase your psychological, emotional, and physical well-being…
